1964 is one of my favourite companies, so I was really looking forward to this 2025 review of their Organic Comatose strain. I’ll be sharing my findings with you and going over the effects, taste, aroma, and whether this $8/gram Indica is worth your money.

How I Reviewed 1964’s Organic Comatose Strain

My 2025 review of 1964’s Organic Comatose was done with a batch packaged on May 28, 2025.

For this review, I smoked two 1-gram joints that I personally rolled over two separate sessions to get a better understanding of the strain’s effects. This also let me properly evaluate the taste, aroma, and negatives compared to my previous 2023 review. The overall quality and feel of the bud has remained unchanged, which is a testament to 1964’s consistency.

The Organic Comatose strain was created by crossing OG Kush with another sleepy Indica, creating one of the more relaxing strains available on the Canadian market.

This combination has created extremely moist and sticky buds that are just as dense as you’d hope for from an Indica. The glistening trichomes set atop yellows and browns make for a pretty bud that’s as visually appealing as it is effective.

1964 delivered precisely what I anticipated with Organic Comatose’s high – a thoroughly relaxed and drowsy experience that’s tailor-made for nighttime consumption.

Right after your first inhale, you’ll notice gentle euphoria washing over your head before the sensation spreads to your limbs as everything around you shifts into slow motion. This progresses into heavy couch-lock sedation that hangs around for hours.

The best way I can describe it is a complete body sedation with rolling waves of what I’d characterize as warmth flowing through my arms and legs. If you’re trying to sink into your couch after a tough day, this strain will get you there.

Organic Comatose Taste and Aroma

The moment I cracked open this weed for my review, I was greeted by a woody and sweet scent so potent it filled my entire apartment, which immediately got me pumped to try this strain.

After lighting up, the woody character stayed prominent, but the citrusy, sweet notes became more pronounced, creating what I can best describe as an earthy orange aroma.

As for the taste, my sessions with 1964’s Organic Comatose reliably delivered a deep, woody pine base enhanced by delicate citrus accents. The smoke went down incredibly smooth, and these layered flavours really elevated the experience. This strain definitely stood out to me

Is 1964’s Organic Comatose a Good Value Buy?

While the flower I grabbed featured high-quality bud that truly highlighted everything the Organic Comatose strain brings to the table, the price point felt steep for what you’re getting.

At roughly $8 per gram, it’s definitely not the priciest cannabis available, but it’s far from budget-friendly. At this price point, I’d typically lean toward infused products or more unique specialty options. If you’re hunting for maximum bang for your buck, this might not be your best bet, but if you want premium quality for a special smoke session, Comatose deserves consideration.

Bud Quality

1964 has consistently blown me away with their bud and product quality, and the Organic Comatose flower was no exception. The bud burned evenly and maintained that moist, dense texture – everything you’re looking for in a top-shelf Indica.

Is 1964’s Organic Comatose a Strong Strain?

At 27.1% THC, the Organic Comatose bud I tested packed considerably more punch compared to their earlier grows. It didn’t completely floor me but provided a thoroughly mellow experience that hit perfectly for unwinding after work.

If you’re relatively new to smoking, this bud will get you seriously elevated – significantly more than I anticipated – though it’s not the most potent option on the market. Personally, I gravitate toward some other Indicas or hybrids like 1964’s Organic Gelato #41 or even Back Forty’s cheaper Liquid Imagination Strain

Would I Purchase This Strain Again?

The fact that I returned for a second review in 2025 shows that 1964 continues to nail it with Comatose, as this strain perfectly scratched the itch for an after-work smoke. I’d happily pick this up again, but just like in 2023, I’d opt for the loose flower over the pre-rolls.

I’d absolutely buy this strain again in flower form, but I’d skip the pre-rolls next time. The flower simply delivers a superior overall experience and better bang for your buck.
